The Crow With An Attitude
Spotting and seeing unusual things in the course of a normal day, has always been a talent of mine. It's a talent for which I am eternally grateful.
On this particular day, I was riding in a van with two friends off to a normal lunch. I spotted the crow and asked the driver to stop.
He was a cocky big ol' bird. Someone had thrown a McDonalds bag out into the drive at the school. When we first stopped, he was walking around and around the sack, almost stalking. Soon, he began to tug at the front, then the back of the bag, continuing to circle.
Finally, he planted himself firmly and tugged really hard on the back of the bag and held it in mouth. To our delight, the contents of the bag just slipped easily out onto the drive. Who said birds weren't smart?
He promptly walked to the front of the bag, seeming so proud of himself, where all it's goodies were layed out in front of him, much as a Thanksgiving Dinner would have been to us. He began to check each paper and container. But, all there was left at all was a container of some sort of sauce, which he didn't seem to have a taste for.
After the search, and finding nothing of substance, he stood and looked almost disgusted for a moment. Then the crow turned and began to walk across the parking lot, shaking his head as if to say "Darn the luck!".
A goofy, normally unimportant scene. But, this three friends laughed and enjoyed a very special experience - an experience probably never to be shared, let alone seen, with anyone else.
I thank that crow for a chuckle and for giving me this moment of sharing.
